Ownership, Trusteeship and Patronage
Nicker National School is under the patronage of the Archbishop of Cashel and Emly. The Board of Management manages the school on behalf of the Patron.
Management Structure
The Board of Management operates in accordance with Department guidelines and best practice. The ‘Governance Manual for Primary Schools’ has been given to all board members. The Board of Management assumed office from December 1st 2015 and adheres to the provisions of the Governance Manual for Primary Schools 2015.
Representative Structures
The Parents’ Association
- The School has always had a very active Parents’ Association. The BOM were very fortunate to have substantial money saved from fundraising initiatives by the previous BoM/PA (2009) before the building project began in 2010/2011.
- The current PA run the Book Scheme every year, as well as fundraising activities which include the following – Quiz night/Clothes Collection/Recycling Drive/Christmas Fair/ticket sales/hampers at school concert, the School Calendar. They also funded our beautiful murals for the opening of our school, and the School Crest on the exterior entrance (€1,000)
- Last year (2015) the PA purchased €1,200 worth of PM readers. They also paid for covering expenses (€800) for same. The PA have also organised many other fundraisers eg Scrap Collection/Thomond Park collection, as well as bake sales and providing tea/coffee for the parents of new entrants in June.
- The School regularly provides/facilitates speakers to talk to all parents eg Health Promotion Schools’ Officer, Mairéad Kelly (January 2016) Cyber Bullying speakers Allanna O’ Beirne (2014) and a representative from Smartschools.ie (February 2016)
