Dear 6th class pupils,

Your secondary schools will be looking for the attached (2 different pages) and you will need to complete these two forms and then post them to your secondary school within the next couple of weeks.

I will be sending your school report to your secondary school, which I will also forward to you either by e mail or post.

The attachments are important. One is filled out by the pupil and the other by a parent/s. These forms help your secondary school to get to know your strengths, interests, achievements and talents as well as perhaps any subject that you might find challenging in first year or if there’s a particular request your parent/s have.

You will remember me helping last year’s sixth class to fill out their forms. You should include the following so that your new teachers have a very complete, positive picture of all your talents and skills.

Hobbies/skills/achievements – Sean Nós dancing, singing, debating, Cumann na mBunscoil (hurling and football) Performing in various school dramas/concerts/masses/Grandparents’ Day; visits to the  local Nursing Home, National children’s Choir concerts, Peace Proms, any instruments you play/competitions/quizzes you’ve taken part in etc.

Your parents will obviously decide what they will write on their form. It’s an opportunity for them to provide information also about you and your learning going forward.

Remember both forms are to be filled in – one by the pupil (parents can help) and one by yourself. Then forward these to your new secondary school by post. Don’t worry about your report, I’ll send that to you and I’ll send it on to your new school also.
